I pretty much agree with the rest of you. I loved the multi-Clara plot, and I was one of the ones who went "*le gasp" because of the revelation from it. Season 8 was suuuuch a nice start for the 12th Doctor. I loved the fact that he'd basically gone crazy after regenerating, and I liked that throughout the season the relationship between the Doctor and Clara was being questioned (even if it did get rather annoying). Also, Missy. That was a stunning plot moment for me.
Otherwise, season 8 was fantastic. The Doctor, rather than finding new creatures in the universe, decided to ask more conceptual questions, and the season went pretty dark because of those questions. I loved this portrayal of 12 dearly, because that's the sort of person I think 12 really is. When you switch to season 9, however, "Oh, look! He's playing a guitar!" ....Yeah, no. That doesn't work. Sorry. I watched the first few episodes of season 9 and then went 'screw it', because instead of having any real plot building up, they have Missy being a rascal, Clara staying neutral with whatever the Doctor is doing, and the Doctor, well, going out of his own character for no reason besides avoiding death (apparently).
I think quite a few people agree with us on how strange it's been getting, too. The lowest amount of people in the UK viewing an episode of Doctor Who when it releases live in season 9 is 5.63 million people. The lowest in season 8? 6.71. The episodes are just becoming monotonous and out of place, and i don't like it one bit. I was sad when they talked about Jenna leaving last year, but now I want to get it over with. Clara was a good point in the show to get the Doctor back on his feet, but now we need to shuffle away from her and start something fresh (more than one companion? Maybe more solo work?).
All I know is that Moffat's said that they plan to keep Doctor Who running at least until 2020, and that Zygons suck (why did they bring those back??).
