For those of you whom haven't been following Who lately, it's been announced that Steven Moffat will be stepping down as showrunner after season 10. He'll be replaced with a guy named Chimball... something e.e
What do you think? Personally, I'm thrilled. I've honestly grown tired of Moffat in recent years because of his repetitive writing style. I felt like he never made full use of the show's premise and instead decided he needed to show how clever he was every year, by giving us some mystery box and going "wooOOOO WHAT AM I GOING TO DO NEXT?!"
I'm hoping this new guy will add in some greatly needed freshness.

I'd have to agree with you, can I call you wind or Mr. L for short? Hmm... those aren't the best nicknames. Whatever. But I definitely feel Moffat's been pushing things a bit too far in the past few seasons. I actually had a little discussion on Tumblr about this earlier.
The way I see it, Moffat's writing style is best suited for one-off episodes and short story lines. He's not the type of guy to be a show runner. I've definitely liked some of his ideas and he's responsible for some great episodes but you can kinda see his ego in the latest seasons of Doctor Who. He pretty much repeats the same beats each season with a different carrot dangling at the end of the line.
I'm super excited to get a fresh face taking the reigns of Doctor Who so we can get back to how the show kinda used to be and go off from there in new and unexpected ways. Maybe even do a better job handling the companions too. (I really hope they do a better job handling the companions.)
I think the general con-census is that people are tired of Moffat and his writing and want him gone. I don't think he's AS bad as people make him out to be but I definitely think it's time for him to go. I have no idea what will be waiting for us in Season 10 though. Knowing Moffat, it'll be something big as he attempts to go out on a bang. Whether or not that bang results in sky-rocketing quality or an underwhelming flop is yet to be seen.

This is very likely, given an interesting pattern. No Doctor has stayed for more than three seasons in New Who. Season ten would be Capaldi's third season. Following that pattern, and considering it is also Moffat's final season as show runner, I'd say it is very likely that this will be Capaldi's final season as Doctor. A real shame. Here's hoping he'll stay for at least one more season with a better companion.

I should stop writing essays on this forum in place of decent sized responses... I just looked back at my post and it's ginormous.

Lol, this didn't turn out to be much of a discussion. The three just kinda agreed and no one else had anything to add. :c Still, I'm a little anxious wondering about Moffat's last season come 2017. *Crosses fingers* Please let us be pleasantly surprised.

As long as it's as good as Blink, we're perfectly fine.
I just don't know if he can write that much, though... I certainly wouldn't be able to.

True. But he doesn't necessarily have to write them alone.
