The real value of the game is in it's spontaneous arrival in the pony community and it's interactivity. The fact that it's new and everyone is discovering it at once makes the whole experience a group one. When you enter the game get to see all these ponies from all over, even more notable members of the mlp community, and talk to any of them. You can make new friends, simply explore this random, new town of ponies, or simply hang out with your friends in a new place.
I like how, even though the interface is somewhat limited, you get to see a lot of creativity from everybody's ponies. Cool ocs, nice replications of existing ponies, even some more outlandish designs. You can make multiple and show off your ocs and creativity with like-minded people who do the same. And then get even more ideas for color combinations and mane styles. Even if you don't enjoy socializing you can go to pony town simply to see new ideas and get helpful criticism on your designs.
Then there's just the fun of being a pony and socializing with people across the internet. For a socialite, this is awesome. Unfortunately, with the games limitations and it's main draw being socialization, once the initial rush to be apart of the game fades, so will it. Without enough people on pony town, it'll get really boring and probably become a niche chat room.
But for the time being it's awesome!!
TL;DR It's fun b/c everyone is finding it at once and talking about it. People like to see their ocs walk among other ponies and get feedback on their designs while learning from others' designs. And once we get used to the game people will start leaving in a chain reaction until only a small niche of players remain.
